2022 NEWSLETTER
2022 is the year that many of us will be saying goodbye to. And while we’re already feeling nostalgic, it’s not all bad news. The past few years have been intense for everyone. The pandemic affected everyone on a global scale, both internally and externally. Although things have slowed down, it can be easy to feel lost in a whirlwind of events or emotions. Grounding yourself and reflecting on what you've experienced so far is essential.
With the new year comes a chance for new beginnings, and with 2023 on the horizon, there are plenty of things to look forward to.
Our family welcomed 2022 with a purchase of our very first beach condo at Amelia Island. It was truly a dream come true for our family. We were fortunate enough to obtain one with an outstanding record for short term rental, so the condo was quite popular on Airbnb and VRBO. Marissa did an amazing job re-decorating our small piece of paradise which kept it constantly rented.
Our son JC officially moved to Sterling, VA to begin his new career. He currently works as a Mission Operations Development Engineer for Northrop Grumman providing long term mission operation support for NASA’s ICESat 2 programs (currently in orbit). He is getting his master’s degree in Space System Engineering in January 2023 at John Hopkins University, taking the next steps to fulfill his dreams of becoming an astronaut someday.
CJ is enjoying spending time with her cousin, CT who now permanently lives with us. She still loves school, volunteering jobs at Jacksonville Zoo and Barkin’ Biscuits (they make and sell dog biscuits). This year she became a VIP and made new friends with the Blue Angel Pilots (especially with no. 2). This was the highlight of her year!
CT is adjusting well in the US with us and loving the JROTC program at the local high school. He wants to enlist in the US Navy after he graduates in 2 years.
Mark is staying busy flying for Spirit Airlines (aka Jet Blue). Luckily, with his seniority as a Captain, he has full control of his schedule and can take short vacations here and there. He also doesn’t mind commuting to Orlando, where he is currently based.
Marissa had a phenomenal 2021! She had almost $18M in sales as a solo agent, ranked no 44 for Top Real estate Individual for Jacksonville, FL. She also had the privilege to speak at their national convention this past October at Amelia Island and enjoys training other agents.
She became very passionate at managing our beach condo rental as well and already planning for her next adventure in the short-term rental business.
We hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and as 2023 approaches us with hopes anew, we wish you and your family a wonderful year ahead.
